NL: Als koppelgenootjes heb je een heel bijzondere band, je bent tot elkaar veroordeeld, of je nu wilt of niet. Je deelt lief en leed met elkaar en brengt veel tijd samen door op hotelkamers overal ter wereld. Samen beleef je hoogte- maar ook dieptepunten.

Amy en ik hadden het geluk dat we het goed met elkaar konden vinden. We hadden een grote droom samen: wereldkampioen worden. Dat is ons 3 jaar op rij gelukt. Iets waar we heel erg trots op zijn.

Toen Amy en ik in oktober 2021 aan de start stonden van het WK koppelkoers wisten we dat dit onze laatste race samen zou zijn. Ik zou er immers mee stoppen, maar dat een paar maanden later alles zo anders zou zijn kon niemand weten.
Om Amy verder te kunnen helpen in haar revalidatie proces is enorm veel steun van kundige en lieve mensen nodig, maar natuurlijk ook veel geld. Door het shirt te veilen dat Amy en ik, en alle andere wereldkampioenen van 2021, signeerden bij de podiumceremonie, een waar collectors item dus, hopen we Amy weer een klein stapje verder te helpen.

EN: You have a very special bond, as couples for the madison. You are condemned to each other, whether you like it or not. You share joys and sorrows with each other and spend a lot of time together in hotel rooms all over the world. You experience highs and lows together.

Amy and I were lucky enough to get along. We had a big dream together: to become World Champions. We managed to do that 3 years in a row. Something we are very proud of.

When Amy and I were at the start of the World Championships for the Madison race, in October 2021, we knew this would be our last race together. After all, I was going to stop, but no one could know that a few months later everything would be so different.

To be able to help Amy further in her rehabilitation process, a lot of support from knowledgeable and lovely people is required, but of course also a lot of money. By auctioning the jersey that Amy and I, and all the other World Champions track cycling of 2021, signed at the podium ceremony, we hope to help Amy take another small step.
